Jharkhand Urja Sancharam Nigam Limited (JUSNL) envisions to rank among the leading transmission utilities in India & to establish an ideal State Transmission Utility with respect to planning, project implementation, and operational capabilities, performance with emphasis on cost, quality consciousness, human resources development, et al.
With the introduction of power sector reforms in the state of the Jharkhand in 2014, the scenario for the State-Owned Electricity Enterprises has undergone a vivid change. To ensure the ongoing process of transformation is not a temporary phase but is sustainable, JUSNL is considering a number of new initiatives in transmission projects implementation, technology & HR management.
Together with the organizational changes, JUSNL is making an attempt to be more accountable & responsible. We have a gigantic task ahead of us, in terms of system & infrastructure up-gradation as well as creating new infrastructure to be able to meet the future requirements of the state. Growth in various sectors of Jharkhand should not face the bottleneck due to lack of electricity.
Further, in exercise to provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, the unbundling of JSEB took place under Jharkhand State Electricity Reforms Transfer Scheme, 2013.
On the Aspects of company overview, Jharkhand Urja Sancharan Nigam Limited (JUSNL) was set up on 6th January 2014 and is registered under the Companies Act, 1956. The company has been designated as the State Transmission Utility in terms of Section 39 of the Electricity Act, 2003
Presently, the company is carrying on intra state transmission and wheeling of electricity under a license issued by the Jharkhand Electricity Regulatory Commission. It is also discharging the functions of the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC).
The Transmission structure of JUSNL owns a High Voltage Transmission System (HVTS) and operates about 4526.76 Circuit Kms of intrastate transmission lines at 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV level, and 42 nos. of substations with a transformation capacity of 6505 MVA. The operation of the JUSNL transmission network is major divided into 5 Zones, 8 Circles, 13 Divisions, and 42 Sub-divisions.
As far as a Transmission Utility is concerned, it is a most important link, rather than a bridge that connects the generating plant to the retail distribution network. As part of that process JUSNL, Which also has been bestowed with the coveted mantle of STU is screening the pious obligation of developing a strong system to support the load as well as Generation Growth.
All the same, the aim is not limited to catering to the demand of the power sector but filter down to social aspect also :
Availability of quality power by way of adequate transmission support thus directly motivates industries to put the industrial unit in the state and indirectly increases avenues of employment and thus upliftment in living standards. Also construction of Grid Substations in a remote region to meet load requirements of tribal and backward populations. The availability of proper electricity in these areas will help the government to implement various schemes for the upliftment of the peoples of the state of Jharkhand.
JUSNL adheres to meet plan target for expansion of transformation capacity and commissioning of transmission line within specified time schedule and budget. Further to enrich power evacuation from generation projects, provide proper voltage to consumers, meet load growth, to provide redundancy of power supply.
Further with the guidance & support of GoJ and the bodies associated with the Power Sector & efforts of the JUSNL family. I hope we together will be successful in taking challenges prevailing on road to further progress
